Some of my favorites!
"Today, I received my passport in the mail. They got my birthdate wrong. Then I picked up my birth certificate that I had sent in with the application. Turns out my parents have been celebrating my birthday on the wrong day for 16 years. FML"
"Today, my boss called me into his office to show me the web site of a potential business partner. When he began to type 'virginia' into google, it auto-completed his search with his recent search for 'virgin boy assholes'. I have to go on business trip with him tomorrow. I'm a young guy. FML"
"Today, I was interviewing a cute guy for my journalism class, and he asked to borrow my laptop to check his email quickly. After the interview, I realized that the last thing I had searched for on my browser's Google box was "ingrown pubic hairs," and it was still up there. FML"
Ok so a friend told me about this website yesterday while i was studying for a dreaded marketing test and it was outstanding comic relief. The way the website works, is its organized into categories with peoples post. after reading you can give them ether a I agree, "your life is f***ed" if its funny and you agree with them or "you deserved that one" if its just sucks. i haven't actually partaken in that yet but thats my understanding. anyway some of the ones on the sight i refuse to believe happened, actually i really don't think many of them are true it is the internet after all. But thats not the point, there just funny and its even funnier to me that its probably middle school kids that are going behind there parents back and righting inappropriate things. - stirling

Makes Me Want To Fly - SWA
Ok so i was on youtube today, not going to lie looking for something to blog about. I came across this. It looks like to be an ad for a airline company in some other country (Italy), given from its in another language. My first inclination was wtf why would i ever fly with them. then i went to there website dunx.it witch is really kinda cool and i got into trying to figure out every things meaning. Altho it did cross my mind if you cant splurge for .com how safe are your planes? Anyway I gathered that the people in the add were people flying on competitors airlines. Also that there a new company who fly only long distance flights worldwide, i think. but back to the add, i thought it was a joke the first time i watched it but intrigued me and thats what this blogging thing is all about, getting to know me. Overall i think i am going to fly swa wherever and whenever i can, maybe they should try this ad format with people flying delta.

We talked about "flow" this week in class, and we talked about being a event that was very limited for it didn't happening very often. after class i thought back and tried to pinpoint times in my life where i felt like i experienced flow. As i thought about it my fondest memories as a child most of them revolved around me sitting in my poolroom and playing with my legos. As i thought more i really missed the feeling of being completely involved with something to the point of going to bed at night and still thinking about how you could make it better for the next day. so how does this relate to my mind map? well the first two drafts definitely had no such relation to this childhood memory. But as i moved into my final map this feeling of not wanting to stop and a since of pride in the hours of work i had just put in began to take over. As i laid in bed that night i couldn't help but think how i was going to make it better the next day and smile, while thinking was that just a little bit of that "flow" thats so hard to reach.
My WebSite & Artist Statement

Stirling Barrett, is a twenty year old native of New Orleans. He graduated from Metairie Park Country Day School where his talent was identified and his unique style of photography was birthed. He is currently attending the Meadows School of Art at SMU in Dallas. His artwork revolves around the indigenous culture of New Orleans, especially relative to its diverse and historic architecture. His portfolio includes a portrayal of the recent "rebirth" of the city following the hurricane devastation of 2005. He creates unique collages by photographing small sections of his subject matter then pieces together a large number of photos to complete his final composition. A completed piece of art may contain anywhere between one hundred to five hundred individual images. He hopes that his artwork provokes a distinct emotion, where the beauty is found within a given moment, within each frame of time. He strives to achieve this goal by distilling disorientation. Stirling concurs with the idea that John Gardner put forth when he stated, "Remember that art is a balancing of opposing points of view, an attempt to zero in on truth without cheating on the argument."
Some how my favorite Super-bowl Ad
My favorite Super bole ad was for career builder as seen above. Interestingly enough it was allot of peoples favorites because is number three on Youtube's super bole website list of best ads. What really appealed to me about the ad is that it took an annoying premies and made it interesting and fun. what i mean is the ad reminded me of the song 99 Bottles of Beer "(You) take one down, and pass it around", as was song on almost all of my middle school class field trips with the sole purpose to annoy. the ad to me took its annoying roots and transformed them in to a memorable and funny spot, by using interesting and extremely entertaining situations that you could somehow relate too.
